Add a channel description

Channels descriptions help your team get a quick overview of each channel's purpose.

To add a description when creating a new channel, simply follow the steps of the Create a channel article.

Here’s how you can add a description to your existing channels:

Team admins and members can add and edit a channel description. Guests cannot make these changes. 
  1. In your channel list, hover over a channel’s name, click on the three dots icon and select Edit Channel…
  2. Click the Edit Channel button.
  3. Write a description for your channel in the text field.
  4. Click Save.

What is the maximum character length for a channel description?

Your descriptions can be up to 255 characters. Don’t forget to add some character with emojis 🚀
